Ginevra de' Benci

Ginevra de' Benci was the sister of a friend of Leonardo da Vinci. She was ill and suffered from heart ache from a tragically ended affair. Leonardo painted her portrait including a juniper (Old Italian: ginepros) behind her, as a pun on her name.
